Director Position for our Summer Art Camp for 2010
Allens Lane Art Center seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Director of our Summer Art Camp for 2010. This individual will be competent, energetic, and willing to add his or her own ideas to a camp that is continually improving. This position requires someone who can motivate both the staff, the campers and the parents/guardians and provide a direction for the entire program for the years ahead. This person must have proven experiences in working with children, a working knowledge of the arts (and what is required for it), and administrative experience. Must have own transportation. This position is a seasonal contract position. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Prepare for camp by arranging trips, transportation, outside vendors, and visiting artists/specialists
- Attend camp fairs before the start of camp
- Arrange for staff training/orientation prior to the start of camp
- Hiring of specialists and staff
- Organizing daily and weekly schedules
- Handle all camper or counselor conflicts
- Maintain camp budget throughout the program
- Overseeing camp office and administration of campers and staff
- Be on location during the entire run of camp from 7:30am – 6:00pm
- Must be available the week prior to the start of camp and the week after camp ends for site preparation and clean-up.
- Oversee camper gallery exhibitions and theater performances
- Other duties as required

Assistant Director Position for our Summer Art Camp for 2010
Primary responsibilities include preparing for camp before it begins (attending 2 camp fairs, making trip arrangements, etc) , helping manage camp throughout the summer session and overseeing a camp cleanup afterwards. The Assistant Director will manage the camp office and administration of all campers, camper parents/guardians, and camp staff. Other duties include but not limited to: writing weekly newsletter, assisting the camp theter productions and gallery exhibitions, purchasing supplies, data entry for all expenditures and income, and assisting in camper medical needs. Camp hours are M – F, 7:30am to 6:00pm (or until all campers have been picked up). Camp runs from June 22 – August 20 th, 2010 (8 weeks of camp plus 1 week of pre-camp). Applicant must display a love of the arts and children. Arts training a plus but not required. Must have own transportation. Deadline for submission for this position is January 1, 2010.
