Camp Staff
This is Horace Rooney's third year as Camp Director and sixth year on the senior staff. He is an English teacher at Simon Gratz High School, and he has many years experience at summer and after school programs. Assistant Director Asha Rooney is in her third year at the camp. Before working at Allens Lane, Asha spent nine years in the accounting and finance department at the University of Pennsylvania. All camp staff are selected for their maturity, responsibility, experience and sensitive understanding of children. Art, ceramics, dance and drama are taught by professionals. Red Cross certified instructors supervise swimming. Each year, two-thirds of our staff and campers return. Many of our campers go on to become staff.
C.I.T. Program
The Counselor-In-Training program for teens entering 8th through 12th grade is a special part of our camp. Call the Art Center or click here to download an application. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2005.
