Art for Moms, Art for Children (3 and up)

Finally an art class for parents that also offers fun and meaningful exploration into the arts for their children. 45 min dance/movement class for children led by local dancer/choreographer Leah Stein, with simultaneous 45 min art class for parents led by local clay artist and ceramic studio manager Cornelia Kietzman. Then 45 min art class for children while parents continue with artwork independently. Variety of art mediums determined by participants.

Recycled Art Jewelry and Metalwork (12 - adult)

Use found objects and recycled materials to create fun and attractive jewelry pieces. Students will learn stringing and metal techniques to create and finish specific projects. Monoprints by Hand - 1 Day Workshop (18 and up)

Students will be taught several monoprint techniques which do not require expensive printmaking equipment. These techniques are easily transportable to home or studio and are relavant for mixed media as well as print artists. Techniques include, but are not limited to, dark and light field monotypes, chine colle,and trace monotype. All materials are non toxic, soy based and clean up with soap and water. All levels of experience are welcome.

A hands on introduction to the art and craft of fused glass. Learn glass compatibility, techniques of cutting & designing and preparing glass to be melted together. Learning to See the Art in Art (teen and adult)

Why are artists able to capture our imagination decades or even centuries after their work was created? What is an aesthetic experience? How can a viewer begin to understand and discuss works of art? This entry-level course is designed especially for students new to the objective method for appreciating art as developed by Dr. Albert Barnes and Violette de Mazia and informed by the philosophy of John Dewey. Students will study works of art, undertake personal and independent analysis of artworks, and participate in group discussions and lively classroom activities.
